Skull Sketch

Teaching some middle schoolers how to draw a skull for work Sunday morning. I demoed this for them while I sat next to them.

I'm totally not meant to teach middle schoolers how to draw haha. Normally I teach little kids younger than 7, and their subject matter is simple enough. Whenever I'm trying to teach middle schoolers I feel like all the stuff I'm telling them is probably too advanced and flying way over their heads.I definitely love teaching and sharing with them regardless though.

Good night everyone!

First plein aire for 2012!

My friend Daniel and I took some time and went outside to paint for a little bit. Trying, but it didn't come out the way I wanted to and oh well. :D

Daniel's Things Study

Daniel Chavez makes such a huge impression on me as an artist. HOW DOES HE PAINT LIKE THAT? Leading to this post n' piece.

Mine...

And his... And you can find his blog here.

Went a little bit more than trying to somewhat emulate someone inspirational this time and just took the idea and painted everything else from scratch. Of course I came nowhere near... School starts real soon!

Cheers!

Viscom2: Rendering the Final

My Viscom2 final isn't worth scanning and showing anymore cause it's been through quite a bit after fall term ended. But I did manage to find a photo on my laptop of me working on it. Pencil, Copic, template, chalk, move template, chalk again, rinse, repeat...

It's a GUNDAM!

Fun W/ Graphics and Painting

]

Not my usual thing to post, but a lot of times I just want to splash some shapes and color.

To, There, and Back: Big Bear!

Group of friends and I decide to head up to Big Bear this past weekend. We barely planned this, but got some money last minute, and then booked the cabin last minute.

We didn't hit any slopes, but we did airsoft in a dried river bed, cooked some hearty food, and had a lot of deep bonding moments, and good old fashioned fun all day and night.

Hope everyone is great. Cheers!

Update to Late Night Quickies

After waking up in the morning the quickies continue!

Late Night Quickies

Late night sketching, first set of thumbnails for the year. Really quick and loose, about 5 minutes more or less each.

I gotta get fast enough to the point where I can just poo out easy-read color environments in less than half an hour. Soooon~

Crispy Rice Sushi

My dad failed at his attempt to make crispy rice sushi today. When I was trying to tell him how do it I thought the best way was to do a sketch/diagram about it. So here's a shoddy 10 minute Photoshop drawing. :P

Cheers!

Vegas!

Merry (late) Christmas! Was in Vegas for a couple of days and stayed at the Venetian. Here's some photos!

I haven't been there in 5 years and for some reason it seemed a lot more eye-opening and relaxing than in the past. Nothing too crazy though cause I'm not 21 just yet. We also went to an awesome all-you can eat sushi place off the Strip called Goyemon, and I think it's probably the best sushi I had so far in the US. I also found out one of my cousins from Canada is going to school for video and game design. Shweet!

Happy holidays!

3D Fundamentals 2 Final Presentation

Just finished 3DF2 about two hours ago. Most demanding class this term for sure. Be sure to check out the helmets that will be around in the gallery and in 230 if you're around Art Center's Hillside Campus! There will be rotations of helmets so there should be a couple different helmets if you visit on other days.

Process book here:

Final presentation:

And last a digital rendering of the helmet in a scene...

Term is over, and I'm dunsies!

Design Process 2 Image References

Looking at some more references for my environments for Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke.

Design Process 2 Artist References

For Design Process 2. References are always nice to have, especially laid out on single pages to see. These are artists/styles to try and emulate for the work we will later do in the class.
