Intro to Entertainment Project Brief

So I don't have to explain every aspect of a lot of things I'm going to be doing in the class..

"A group of explorers find an old relic that leads to a great treasurein a city that has been long lost. They decide to form a team and go on an expedition in order to find tihs city and its hidden treasure. The explorers realize that in order to get to this uncharted destination, they would need to use a unique vessel as well as a vehicle/tool to overcome an obstacle and retrieve the treasure.

When they first arrive they encounter a local merchant who becomes their guide. The group experienced first hand the city's unique technoloty that has allowed the city to devlop over time into its own self-contained metroplos. In an effort to gain their trust the merchant shows them around the city and gives them clues about how to retreive the treasure.

After realizing that his guests have the missing tool to reach this treasure, the merchant attempts to take advantage of the team and take the treasure. The team discovers the merchant's evil plan and must decide to retrieve/build the tool and obtain the treasure, or simply escape with their lives..."

So for all you aspiring artists looking to go into the entertainment industry theres a generic plot with potential to become something great. :]

Namtagan and TitleBlock

Accidentally deleted a whole row of mecha thumbnails last night. So sad. All that work... :[

On a brighter note, I finally got down the titleblock and namtagan I'm going to be using for my Intro to Entertainment Design class at Art Center. I'm pretty sure I don't actually need it. but it always looks nice and I always had to make them when I was taking Industrial Design classes...

And on a different note, I just noticed the grass on my front lawn has just been freshly cut, It's kinda nice. :]

So yea, those thumbnails actually are taking me a lot longer to do. Lol. I have been trying to do at least a page a day, meaning I should've had at least two pages by now. Well...

Ha. Just kidding. I'll actually upload when I get pages done at a time.

Intro to Entertainment Project Brief and Some Thumbnails

Project Brief:
A group of explorers find an old relic that leads to a great treasure in a city that has been long lost. They decide to form a team and go on an expedition in order to find this city and its hidden treasure.

That's the first part of the project we'll be working on in the Intro to Entertainment class at Art Center at Night, with Simon Ko (http://simonko.net/concept/) as the instructor. Pretty stoked.

Anyways, here's a quick preview of my first batch of thumbnails on the anti-hero in the story. I'll be sure to have more to come.

ACAN Intro to Entertainment Design

My first real Entertainment Design oriented class begins today at Art Center's Night program! Really really excited, besides it being another art class which I so desperately want, it's another big push forward towards what I want to do in life. And I could use a lot more training in the entertainment field anyhow.

Pen Sketchys

So I recently had the chance to reunite with my sketchbook. Yea I was actually seperated from it since June. What happened was I left it at a friends house when I stayed over one time. I didn't get to see that friend often...



What ended up happening was that she and another mutual friend went to a CDA workshop, and they exchanged the sketchbook there, so the second friend , who i see a lot more often, could pass it on back to me. He ended up going to Brazil for a while. Lol.

But it's back!


And that's not mine. But it's some random sketches my dear friend Ginseng left in my sketchbook when he flew over from the East Coast. He's one of the most thoughtful and strange artists I know. :]

Thursday night... or should I say Friday morning.
I know the title might not make any sense, but I'm starting to have a slight case of insomnia. But with a little bit of progressive, slower, smoother vocal trance tracks I could ease myself a bit to shleep mode.

And I'm sorry I haven't been releasing sets lately. I try to release one a week but with my ridiculous schedule the only time I find to do these kinds of things is late past midnight. There were a few messups here and there, but nothing too bad this time (at least I hope not). And I honestly think I am getting a little bit better!


But if you're having trouble getting to sleep, maybe this would help, like it did me! Give critique, leave comments, post your thoughts... I really want your input! I probably know where I messed up already, but it's always better to have it there written in black and white. As always, I hope you enjoy the set.

Me and Elvin are spinning from about 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Come check it out it's a free event! (But of course tips or donations would be nice. :P) We'll (maybe) have roughly 150-200 of our new business cards to hand out, the first attendees will have the chance to get their hands on them!

Entertainment Portfolio - Episode 2

Post number two, or episode 2 on my ACCD Ent. Portfolio.

I totally forgot about making a titleblock for my portfolio. When I finished putting together the thumbnails to look at, I realized i did so without the titleblock, one of the most important aspects to an Art Center portfolio. But I started that just now and I made the "Dororo" title using the pen tool in Illustrator. Now I just have to make the rest of the titleblock.


Still working on Hyakkimaru. But i did thumbnails of his face in a neutral 2 copic markers and a brush pen.

These were really fun and quick to do (less than 3 minutes each) but they let me figure out what kind of personalities can be achieved with which faces. I really like the first seven, but I'm especially digging number 1,3,5, and 6.

Thumbnails for Ent. Portfolio

First quick five minute thumbnails for Hyakkimaru, the one who was sold to demons by his father. In the live action movie the blade Hyakkimaru used to kill demons protruded from his left arm. I wanted his character to be covered as much as possible, but for that reason his left arm garnered more of that. More details about him later.

I promised I'd get some up as soon as I get my hands on a scanner right? Too bad it's a scanner from work so it's not practical for me to upload my figure drawing stuff here...

Sketched with an office pen (except for the one done with brush pen), and arranged in Photoshop.

Entertainment Portfolio

Finally found a story/concept for my entrance portfolio into Art Center's Entertainment department. I'm loosely basing it off of Dororo, a story about a boy whose Japanese warlord of a father sold to demons in a pact for power. And that's all I'll say about the story for now cause it's complex. Haha. But you should take a look at the live-action movie. Some of the effects are a bit cheesy, but the storytelling and cinematography is great.


Working on thumbnails now. As soon as I get a working scanner in order I'll have them up. One character at a time.

Work Stuff

I haven't really been working on any art lately.
Say for the graphic design related things I have to do at work now.
Even though it's not much too look at,
I feel like I have to put up something new,
that you can actually look at, and not just read.



The consistency of the images I used in the posters
(say the fruit for example),
were not very... let's just say... consistent. Lol.
But whatever.

I should really get back into drawing traditionally especially.
